How Protect and Apply Magnetic Signs

1. Wash and dry your vehicle before you place your magnetic sign on the vehicle. We recommend cleaning the surface with a mild detergent and wiping it dry with a soft, lent free cloth. If you wax your car, make sure it is cured and hardened before you affix your sign to your vehicle. A clean, dry surface will help seal your magnet to your truck or car door.

2. Use a mild detergent to clean your magnet. The magnet should be completely dry and at room temperature before applying.

3. Determine the location where you want you magnet to stick. Avoid curved or non-metallic areas of the vehicle. Magnets will not stick to aluminum or fiberglass. Do not place your magnet over protusions, molding, decals, pin-stripes, lights, reflectors, air intakes, wheel wells, spoilers, or concave areas. Choose a smooth, flat, vertical surface area to place your magnet. Do not place your magnet on a horizontal area, such as the hood or roof of your car. (This not only places your sign in direct and damaging sunlight, but also allows air to get up under the magnet and could cause it to lift off your car.)

4. Do not layer one magnetic sign on top of another.

5. Do not slide the magnet into position. Sliding the magnet into position may cause it to stretch and could stratch your vehicle.

6. You can eye-ball the placement as the magnet is easily removed, but if you are graphically challenged, traditional carpenter's tools and leveling devices can be used to help you center and align your magnetic sign. A level, a yard stick and carpenter's chalk line can be used to help you place your sign.

7. Be sure to remove the magnetic signs when you run your vehicle through a car wash as this will prolong the life of your signs.

8. Signs can be removed from the vehicle and cleaned with a mild detergent and hung flat to dry or gently wiped with a soft, lent free cloth. To remove the magnet, do not pull from the corners, but using both hands, lift the magnet gently from the sides. Do not pry your magnetic signs off with any tools, fingernails or sharp objects.

9. Store your magnetic signs in a clean, dry place when not in use. Do not store with magnetic surfaces facing each other when storing more than one sign.
